Foreword
“Obsolete daily objects, pressed glass panels from old Chinese screen doors, ceramic fragments, childhood favorite toys, old-fashioned jewellery castings collected from long-gone factories… They are traces of the bygone days. Cicy reconstructs these reclaimed scraps to sort out personal and collective memories, by reshaping, polishing, and putting together these fragments in silver with her own hands, so they emit a little bit of residual heat in the fleeting time and space.”

An extension of ” bloom elsewhere” for Our Language Exhibition
Changes in time, location and habits make daily objects no longer routine or useful. The exercises, failures and unfinished works that have been practiced over the years in the creative journey are often regarded as waste materials and are always being overlooked.
Although they appear to be fragmented and useless, they preserve precious traces of their stories.
Cicy reconstructs these reclaimed and often scattered fragments. Sorting out personal and collective memories she also expresses her own feelings through the making process. By taking a closer look at them with her heart, she re-shapes, polishes, and puts together these fragments in metal with her own hands. Her own feelings are recorded and reflected on the final objects.
She combines the tone of four seasons she has experienced, and the plant forms she saw in Vancouver over the past two years. She elaborates her thoughts by borrowing the residual heat of unique stories on the reclaimed materials.
